Spelling as Communication
The letterboard as a communication tool is provided by a number of agencies throughout the United States and Canada. These businesses have set up comprehensive and valued business practices to further the cause and revolution of non-speaking autistic spellers. We are not affiliated with any particular company, but endorse them all in the journey to find the right path for you, whether you are a parent or employed in supporting persons with diverse abilities. There is a growing need for Practitioners! Please consider connecting with these agencies to find out more about how you can help our non-speakers find their voice!

I-ASC— In our journey, we began with the parent training through www.i-asc.org which was founded by Elizabeth Vosseller. We have loved working with their closest Communication Regulation Partner (CRP) practitioner to us, Angela Knight, located in Surrey, BC. Your closest practitioner can be found by contacting I-ASC.
-
SPELLERS— The Spellers organization found at spellers.com is the latest collaboration of Dana Johnson of Tampa, Florida and Dawnmarie Gaivin of San Diego, California. With their “Spellers” method they are creating an amazing army of spellers to join the revolution!
-
RPM— We found a real connection with Madison Martin of Mentoring Minds in Calgary, Alberta, a Rapid Prompting Method (RPM) practitioner. Madison is able to easily be “open” / “fluent” with Luke as she is professionally trained under the RPM through halo-soma.org. Soma Mukhopadhyay is one of the original creators of the program. She is a parent who unlocked her son, Tito, who is now an author of many books.

Communication 4 All Academy— Check out this page for amazing videos that explain in detail the step-by-step process of spelling on a letterboard; especially what it’s like to be a practitioner, as well as a speller. Elizabeth Bonker and her team are so great at explaining the methodology. https://communication4all.org/c4a-academy/
-
Communication for Education— This is a training program based in the US for staff who support students using text-based multimodal communication in educational environments, including homeschool situations and private schools.
